Paperboy (1985)

Paperboy is a classic arcade game that was published by Atari Games in 1985. This game was then introduced in Nintendo Entertainment System, which was a very powerful and popular game on its generation. Paperboy is a game in which basically he has to deliver newspapers to the subscribed house mailboxes, sounds easy enough, think again, there are a lot of frustrating challenges you will encounter during delivering newspapers. This game is not a nice quite bike riding game where you have to deliver to a certain houses, the street is full of hazards like construction workers, chased by a grandma, cars that comes out of nowhere, skateboarders, tornados, weirdly smiling grim reaper, obstacles and the most frustrating of all is the dog, in which when you hit any of those enemies, you will lose one of your life. The newspapers are also limited, so use it wisely, but you can also pick up a bundle of newspapers in the street in which gives you additional supplies. The mechanic in this game is simple, you need to deliver the newspapers to the subscribed houses where you will be notified before the delivering begins, if you miss to deliver in the subscribed houses they will stop subscribing and eventually you will lose the game, but if you manage to deliver the newspaper to every subscribed houses you will gain a new subscriber. To finish this game all you need to do is to have at least one subscriber in seven days of delivering.

This game has some challenges, but it has no variety due to the repetitive and unappealing  graphics even in its generation, annoying background music, same street in seven times in a row gameplay, and  the enemies are also the same, but just arranged in different position to make the game more difficult. Other than that the game is fairly fun but the gameplay is decent, I don’t see this game is one of my favorite the actions are dull, the gameplay is fairly boring, the experience is good on giving goals, but poor due to the lack of story. This game is more of a survival than arcade it has no meaningful story and it points up the clichés.
